 Temperament

Poodles are intelligent, alert, and active. Historically, their aptitude has made them ideal for performing in circuses across the globe for centuries.

Poodles are extremely people-oriented dogs and, therefore, are eager to please. They are excellent watchdogs, but unlike some working breeds, don't usually become "one-person" dogs when they are part of a family.

Exercise needs

Poodle needs to be taken on a daily walk. Although they adore water and love to go for walks, Poodles are not demanding as far as exercise goes, so long as they get their walk in. They however, will keep in better spirits and be fitter if given regular opportunities to run and play off the leash in a safe area.

 Trainability

Training a new poodle puppy is one of the most rewarding, and best time investments any pet owner can make.  Training a new dog can be as basic as teaching him or her to come when called and house training to fetching, pointing and retrieving.

 Nutrition & Diet

A high quality diet is the foundation of good health and will provide your poodle with the right balance of essential nutrients she needs. If this balance is upset, from lack of food or the wrong food, heath problems can arise.

If you want to achieve optimal health for your poodle, feed her the highest quality food you can - learn about nutrition and weigh the various options carefully.

 Living conditions

Poodles are relatively inactive indoors. They will be okay in an apartment if they are sufficiently exercised. A small yard will suffice.

 Life expectancy

About 12-15 or more years.

 Origin

Although the Poodle has been known throughout Western Europe for at least 400 years, its origin is controversial. Whether it was developed in France, Germany, Denmark, or the ancient Piedmont, is uncertain.
