Pembroke Welsh Corgi

The Pembroke Welsh Corgi is an odd looking dog only resembling other corgis. A peculiar shaped head leads to their slightly long narrow muzzle. Slightly set back in their head are two large round eyes usually brown in color. While their body is strangely long, their legs are unusually short. Their medium length soft fur covers their body and comes in many colors including red, sable, fawn, or black and tan these colors are often mixed with white marks.The tail is almost non-existent. The Pembroke Welsh Corgi has quite a muscular little body and an inquisitive expression.

Height: 10 – 12 inches

Weight: 25 – 30 pounds

 Temperament: 

The Pembroke Welsh Welsh Corgi looks similar to a fox and has a similar temperament. The breed's body allows it to move very quickly. The Pembroke Welsh Corgi has friendly, even-tempered, active personality. The Pembrokes get along very well with other animals, especially if socialized with them early. They love children of all ages, but need to be socialized early. Otherwise they will try to herd them by nipping at the heels. They are loyal and seek to protect their family. They will bark to alert their family of people or noises around the home. The Pembroke Welsh Corgi may attack if they feel their family is being threatened.

 Exercise needs:

Naturally active little dogs, they should always be encouraged to remain so. The Pembroke Welsh Corgi need daily brisk walks to stay fit.

 Trainability:  

The Pembroke Welsh Corgis are extremely obedient and easy to train. Corgis have the right to receive proper training, so that their relationship with humans and other animals won't be marred by confusion and so they will not become dangerous to themselves or others.

 Nutrition & Diet:

The dietary need of your Pembroke Welsh Corgi is depend upon the age, sex, health conditions and living conditions, etc.This breed is prone to becoming overweight because of their short stature, so diet should be carefully observed.

 Living conditions:

The most suitable living condition for the Pembroke Welsh Corgi is one that enables it to be active while enjoying the company of its family. In most situations, allowing the breed to live in a well fenced yard of average size is best.

 Life expectancy:

The Pembroke Welsh Corgis have a typical life expectancy of 12 to 14 years. A healthy Pembroke with an healthy diet can live up to 15 years.

 Origin:

The Pembroke Welsh Corgi originated in Pembrokeshire Wales. The Pembroke Welsh Corgi is one of two dog breeds known as Welsh Corgis. Corgis are believed to be descended from Swedish Vallhund dogs brought to Wales by the Vikings. Pembroke Welsh Corgis are a favorite of Queen Elizabeth II. They are  still a favorite pet, even though its popularity has fallen some since the 1960s.
