English Toy Spaniel

The English Toy Spaniel has a Nickname as "Charlies". The English Toy Spaniel is a compact, cobby and essentially square toy dog possessed of a short-nosed, domed head, a merry and affectionate demeanor and a silky, flowing coat. The round eyes are large, and dark with a sweet expression. They have a very long ear set close to the head, fringed with heavy feathering. The important characteristics of the breed are exemplified by the head. The English Toy Spaniel's coat is normally a shade of black and tan, ruby or Tricolor with black and white. The coat is normally long, silky and straight.

Weight: 9-12 pounds (4.1-5.4kg.)

 Temperament:

The English Toy Spaniel was bred exclusively as a companion dog. These dogs bond very closely with their owners but may be cautious around new people. English Toy Spaniels are moderate barkers and may serve as respectable watchdogs. They are bright and interested little dog, affectionate and willing to please. SomeEnglish Toy Spaniels are known to be picky eaters.

 Exercise needs:

This breed needs a daily walk butdoes not require extensive amounts of daily exercise. They generally exercise themselves at home and require only small walks around the neighborhood or a small game in the back yard. They are not ideal walking companions because they can suffer from joint problems, and long walks can aggravate any problems they may have.

 Trainability:

Training can be easy with this breed as long as you understand his nature. They are happy to please and enjoy the companionship training provides. Leash training can be particularly difficult since they prefer being off leash. They are independent and may disregard commands when they are first given. Housetraining an English Toy Spaniel can be an easy task.

 Nutrition & Diet:

Small, regular and carefully portioned meals are ideal for this dog breed. Recommended daily amount: 0.5 to 1 cup of high-quality dry food a day, divided into two meals. Puppies must be fed according to the breeder's diet sheet to ensure the bones and muscles develop correctly. As adults, this breed can very greedy so care must be taken to avoid obesity. Make sure that you provide your dog a constant access to fresh water.

 Living conditions:

The English Toy Spaniels are Indoor dog. They will do just fine in an apartment and don't require a yard.

 Life expectancy:

The life expectancy for this particular breed is 10 – 12 years.

This breeds originates from England, hence they have the name like “The English Toy Spaniel”.
