Chinese Crested

Chinese Cresteds are smaller breed of dog. They
widely considered great family pets because of their
captivating personalities. They are affectionate,
energetic and playful. These breeds known for their
unique appearance. There are two types Chinese Cresteds:
one is hairless except for its feet, head and tail - the
Hairless; the other is called the Powder Puff. It has a
coat of long soft hair. Both are can see in number of
colors, solid, mixed or spotted all over. They have a
broad skull and a long muzzle. Eyes are dark, and ears
are erect.

Temperament:
This breed is
suitable for families as it is not aggressive toward young
children, adults, or animals. The Chinese Crested is a “home
bound” dog, and it does not exist well in a kennel. This is a
breed that co-exists very well in a family environment and may
experience separation anxiety when removed from familiar people
or surroundings. The Chinese Crested requires constant
companionship and will become anxious, noisy, or
destructive if left alone for more than a few hours. If
the Chinese Crested is denied companionship, it can
become resistant and stubborn.
Exercise
needs:
The Chinese Crested
breeds are active little dogs, which need a daily walk. As they
are playful, Playing can fulfill their exercise requirements.
They will also enjoy a good romp. Don't think that just because
they are small they should be confined to a small
space.
Trainability:
The Chinese Crested
is a very intelligent breed and enjoys being active, therefore
training should not prove to be a big problem. However, these
dogs can lose interest quickly, and therefore you need to
ensure that you keep their attention in order to enjoy more
effective training and better results. The Chinese Crested has
an average trainability.
Nutrition
& Diet:
The Chinese Crested
should receive a high quality and well balanced diet. Remember,
the hairless variety is prone to dental problems when planning
their diet. Regular meals are ideal for this breed, and as with
all dogs access should be made available to fresh water at all
times.
Living
conditions:
The Chinese Crested
is indoor breed and is well suited to apartment living. They do
not like extreme temperatures, hot or cold, and this should be
reflected in the environment in which they
live.
Life expectancy:
The life expectancy
of a healthy, fit Chinese Crested is around 10 to 12
years.
Origin:
The Chinese Crested
may look like a breed of Mexican hairless. Some have thought
the breed came from Africa. But Chinese Crested dogs have been
associated with China since the 13th
century.
