Cardigan Welsh Corgi

Cardigan Welsh Corgi is one of two
separate dog breeds known as Welsh Corgis that originated
in Wales. It is one of the oldest herding
breeds.

Temperament
The
Cardigan Welsh Corgi is highly intelligent, obedient,
protective and robust. Steady, loyal and loving, but wary
of strangers. Cardigans are less sociable and more
territorial. Good with other non-canine animals and with
other Corgis, but can be combative with other
dogs.
Exercise needs
Even
more active that the Pembroke; Cardigans must have
regular exercise, including a daily, long
walk.
Trainability
Cardigan Welsh Corgi puppies are good listeners
and are very attentive, making their training and
upbringing easy. They are not difficult to train because
of their high intelligence and quick learning ability.
They should be socialized early on to avoid confrontation
and suspiciousness with friendly animals and
humans.
Nutrition & Diet
1. Fresh water constantly
available.
2. Raw meaty bone/chicken wing every
morning.
3. Table scraps both cooked and raw (remember to
discard all cooked bones).
4. As a last resort, convenience processed 'all
in one' dry foods.
Avoid:
MILK - Causes diarrhea. Animals drink it whether
thirsty or not and consequently get
fat.
Exclusively lean meat - Not
balanced.
Exclusively vegetable - Not
balanced.
Cooked bones - Get stuck.
Mineral And vitamin additives - Cause
imbalance.
Exclusive processed meals - Can cause dental and
other diseases.
Living conditions
Good
for apartment life. They are very active indoors, and
will do okay without a yard.
