Beagle

A medium
sized dog, belonging to the Hound Group, a tag given to dogs
that are used during hunts. Beagles have a strong sense of
smell and mainly used to trace out hares, rabbits and other
games. Their keen sense of smell makes them the best choice for
detection dogs. Snoopy of the comic strip Peanuts has been
promoted as "the world's most famous beagle".
Height 'n Weight
Height: Male Dogs measure 14 to 16 inches (i.e. 36 to 41cm)
Female Beagles measure 13 to 15 inches (i.e. 33 to 38cm)
Weight: Male Beagles weigh between 22 to 25 pounds (approx.
10kg to 11kg) Female beagles weigh between 20 to 23 pounds
(approx. 9kg to 10kg)
Temperament
Beagles are Sociable, brave and intelligent. Hates to be
alone.
They are also known to be very good problem solvers.
Exercise needs
Beagles need plenty of exercise, inclusive of brisk walks.
Games they are in need are: Fetch, the Dog Park, and they love
to be at a beach.
Trainability
Beagles require firm and patient training. They are determined
and watchful.
However, they do stick to their own agenda and hence one has to
find out tactful ways to train them.
Some beagles take up to a year to be completely trained and a
few never let it go over their needs.
Nutrition & Diet
Healthy foods :
Vegetables (raw or cooked). However, not all the vegetables are
good for them.
Pasta and Rice (in moderation)
Cooked Meat (in moderation)
Dairy Products (in moderation)
Fruits (in moderation). Not all fruits are good for them.
Unhealthy foods:
Chocolate (Proven to be fatal for dogs)
Uncooked red meat, as they are found to contain parasites.
Bones of chicken and turkey, which may cause internal
injuries.
Grapes and resins are toxic.
Garlic and onions may cause anemia.
Living conditions
Beagles are very active indoors and a small yard will be
sufficient.
They do have to go outdoors often.

About 12 to 15 years
Origin
Originated as a cross between Harrier
and other hounds in England.
